We have the most powerful military in the world and we are going into a period of no conflict. It would be a waste if all they did was stay on base and eat on the tax payer's dime. If I was president, I would order the military in to secure Antarctica and contract out mining it and drilling for oil. Imagine what a boost to the economy it would be. Our wealth would probably double and we would be guaranteed to be the richest nation for another 300 years. And its not like the rest of the world can do anything with their puny militaries, especially the countries which have Antarctic claims (China does not have any Antarctic claims).
