My Review of Berlin (Don't Go There!)

  1. No UberEats. No postmates. Food delivery is stuck in the early 2000s. "Restaurants" deliver themselves. Will only deliver nearby. Takes 5 times longer to delivery than in Australia from a lot closer. Given in dirty-looking generic containers and plastic bags - no neat paper bags like UberEats. Unless you live in Alexanderplatz no major chain like KFC will deliver.
  2. Food quality is absolute trash. Food options are absolutely horrible. All they offer is "borqar" and terrible pizza. They dont even cut the pizza. Very similar to third world countries I have been to (perhaps worse). The cooks have no idea what they are doing. Extremly cheap ingredients. The food items all look like it was made by the same place no matter where you order from. I have heard its all prepared by Turks and that's why it's so bad.
  3. Like 3 KFC, 9 McDonalds, and 1 Subways for the whole city - WTF! There should be a McDonalds 5 minute walking distance from every house. You won't get the reliability of chain restaurants here.
  4. The beauracracy is unbelievably unbearable (15 forms, 6-month waits, runs to 7 different places). Unnecessarily steps. Everything in German.
  5. The good architecture is ugly and outdated.
  6. The bad architecture is depressing and communist.
  7. Everything is closed on Sundays.
  8. The options in stores are terrible. The stores have really ugly signs. Seems like no effort was made by people working there. People don't seem to like working.
  9. No automated checkout.
  10. Even though it is the most populous European city, not a single person speaks English.
  11. Uber is barely useable (again because of your terrible beauracracy).
  12. DHL delivery often doesn't even attempt to deliver. Instead, they just leave the card. Especially on Saturdays. Its annoying when you paid for delivery and you have to pay again to go to he post office and pick up your package. Wasting more time and money.
  13. Delivery is left with a neighbour (how bizarre).
