Replace the US Senate with representatives from corporations (The Corporate Senate)

We already have a political body which is directly elected by the people - The House of Representatives. The concept of the Senate is old and outdated. It made sense when the country was founded because all the states were more like independent countries, but that is no longer the case. So we need a new fresh idea fit for the 21st century. I propose what I call the Corporate Senate.

The Senate will be comprised of 500 people. These people will come from the top 500 public companies in America by market capitalization. Every 2 years, on the day that the House is elected, at the close of markets on that day, the rank of companies by market cap will be used. The board of directors of those companies chose who will represent them. This will likely be a former/retiring CEO/Chairman of the Board, or someone like this.

In addition, the Senate will vote by a simple majority and the filibuster will be removed. The Vice-President will break the tie like now. A two-thirds supermajority of the senate will still be able to overrule the President's veto.

Politicians seem more and more dislinked with the views of the people. Corporations represent people much more than politicians. The roles corporations play in our lives is much more impactful on a day-to-day basis than the obscure matters politicians talk about. Corporations have the interest of the customer (us) most to think about, unlike politicians. Corporations ARE America. The two are inseparable.
